On Diwali day, worship of Goddess Lakshmi (goddess of wealth) should be done during Pradosh Kaal , The best timing for it is Pradosh Kaal that starts after sunset and lasts for 2 hours and 24 minutes (approx). Mahanishita Kaal is also considered auspicious to perform Lakshmi Puja on Diwali.
Also, the best time for Lakshmi Puja is during Pradosh Kaal in Sthir Lagna. Sthir Lagna makes it sure that if Lakshmi Puja is done during it, Lakshmiji will stay in the home and give her blessings.

 It is beleived that Laxmiji likes cleaniness that's why house were cleaned ,painted before Laxmi pooja.Divyas are ligten to welcome Laxmiji.During Pooja all family sits together and do the pooja.
